Family Involvement and Support

Family involvement and support in school activities directly affects the academic success of high school students. At Leadership, we value and encourage parent participation. There are many ways in which families engage with and contribute to LHS. Families attend Back to School Night and Family Meetings, chaperone field trips, and attend sporting events. We have established a parent involvement policy and family compact, which describes in detail our commitment to and strategy around family engagement: Title I Parental Involvement Policy.

Back to School Night

Each September, families are invited the annual Back to School Night. During this evening, parents/guardians have the opportunity to meet their student’s teachers. The evening begins with advisory and then follows your student’s class schedule. Students are encouraged to attend the evening with their families.

Parent & Teacher Conferences

Two times each year families meet with their student’s advisor, the student, and any other key adults in the student’s life. At these conferences, students set long-term goals, discuss how their educational journey will help them meet those goals, and review academic and social progress.

School Site Council

The School Site Council (SSC) is intended to be a decision-making body made up of the Principal and parents/guardians.  Their primary responsibility is to identify common goals and assist the Principal in establishing a plan to achieve the goals. Latinx Family Meetings

Latinx Family Meetings are held every other month with the goal of sharing information and resources with our Spanish-speaking parents/guardians. For more information please contact Antonio Medina at

English Language Advisory Committee

The ELAC is a committee for parents or other community members who want to advocate for English Learners. The purpose of ELAC is to advise the Principal and school staff on programs and services for English learners and the School Site Council (SSC) on the development of the School Plan for Student Achievement. Board of Trustees Meetings

Leadership parents are invited and encouraged to attend the school’s Board of Trustees meetings, which are open to the public. Dates of the meetings can be found on this website, and agendas are posted three days prior to the meeting. Additionally, each year a parent/guardian serves as Parent Representative to the Board and provide communication between the Board and Parent Association.

At the outset of each board meeting there is time set aside for public comment. If a parent/ guardian would like to request an item be added to the agenda, he/she should contact the Principal or Director of Administration or Board Chair.
